I am running a 3D Lumerical HEAT simulation (thermal and conductive) of a thermal phase shifter waveguide surounded by oxide on a silicon wafer. I am trying to place a natural top plate convection boundary condition between the oxide layer and the air above it.  However when I run the simulation I get the following error:
"The program terminated due to an error: Failed to find fluid material properties for convection boundary condition 'convection'"
"Error: there was an unknown parallel error. The error code is 9011, the process number is 0"
I have set the surface type for the natural top plate convection as material:material between SiO2 and Air. Â In the partition screen, when I select the boundary condition, it correctly identifies the location where the SiO2 meets Air.Â
I have the default Air in the list of materials in my model and can see the thermal and electrical properties listed. The type of the thermal properties is given as "Fluid". I have tried setting the background material of the simulation region as Air and have also tried directly adding a block of Air above my device but both methods result in the same error. Â
The convection boundary condition works if the convection model is set to constant, but I would prefer not to use this option. I am also able to run the "Steady State Convection Cooling of a Silicon Thin Film" example without issue, but have had no success so far in getting my own simulatin to run.

Hi Nicholas,
I can run the simulation example successfully as well. And I also changed the material of the film from Si to SiO2, I don't see any issue with that too. After you partition the geometry, can you see that each domain is assigned the correct material:
After you partition, you can click on "Check" to see if there are any issues with the setup:
Do you see any error messages on doing that?

Hi Nicholas,
Thanks for sharing the screenshot! I will get back to you on this.
