Questions Regarding Tasks and Active Entitlements

  Hi there,
  
  I have a research project that utilizes Fluent. I do not fully understand what Ansys has given me access to in terms of active entitlements in the licensing portal. For example, under "Entitlements" it lists several entitlements such as Ansys Academic Research Mechanical and CFD (1 task) with a "Total Activated" of 5. I need "task" and "active entitlement" defined for me. I was able to create a license server on a team computer, but we are unsure if we need to create multiple license servers for licensing each team computer, or if that one computer can generate the licensees needed.

  Hello William, Task is the number of "seats" or "concurrent users" included. So with 5 x 1 task license you can have a total of 5 active users. They can all access the same central license server, you do not need to install separate licenses for each computer. Each computer will reach to the server to access the licenses when running the Ansys applications, so network connectivity between them must be persistent.
