SubscriberHi everyone,
I'm trying to make a model of a 4-stage axial compressor using Multistage Cyclic Symmetry and there are some points that I understand not very well.
1. How to create a contact in a model using MultiStage Cyclic Symmetry?
If I understand correctly, the contact between two different Stages is not available, so I have to include two parts of the contact in a single Stage. For example, the 2ndStage of the compressor is connected to the 3rdStage by bolts. I replace the bolts with bonded connections. If I scope the 2ndStage to one part and the 3rdStage to another part, then define them as two separate Stages of multi-stage cyclic symmetry, I can't create the contact between them. So I define the 2ndStage as two separate parts and define Stage3 as comprising the 3rdStage and part of the 2ndStage to create the bonded connection inside Stage3. In this case, 2 parts of the 2ndStage are connected by Interstage.Â
What do you think? Is there another way of defining the contact in this case?2. How could I do to expand each Stage to 360deg full section with different angle?
Could you please give me some advices for this problem.
Thank you in advance

Forum ModeratorHi,
Can you please share an image of the actual setup of the model? This will help the forum members to comment more.

Ansys EmployeeYou need to use Interstage objects as described in Mechanical Tutorial 13. Â https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/Views/Secured/corp/v232/en/mech_tut/ds_MStag_Comp_tut.html
