Hi all, gentlemen and gentlewomen!

I have a simple 3D model of a "lambda-shaped" vent within its (much larger) CFD enclosure, and I'm splitting it in half to exploit the symmetry of the problem.

 

I'm using the Split by plane feature twice, using a temporary midplane to cut in half the enclosure first, then using the half-enclosure itself to cut the venting system. Everything looks fine, but as soon as I save and reopen the file, all sorts of errors come up, starting with "An error while executing 'Open'" and persisting whatever I'm trying to do. I tried repeating the procedure just in case it was a file corruption issue, but nothing changed. The geometry is fine before cutting it, and stops working as soon as it's split by plane.

What am I doing wrong?

I'll point out a couple unconventional things I did with the CAD, I hope this helps:

• The enclosure was done manually and not with the native feature. That's because as of know I'd build the box using the distances from the origin rather than "cushion lenghts".
• The system is over-constrained, at least, I get notified about that all the time. That's likely because I'm just getting started with the software, and I'm not familiar at all with how auto constraints can be kept in check and eventually removed.

Can you please refer this Slicing Geometry with SpaceClaim - Ansys Knowledge tutorial for more information splitting a model with a plane, surface, and using existing geometry.

Also, saving it and reopening should not have the problem. What is the error message you get when reponed? Also, does this happen when you create an enclosure from the Enclosure tool from the Prepare tab?
