Unknown Global Damping – Ansys Motion

      Hi,

I have been setting up a MBD simulation for a vibration isolation problem but I have encountered an unspecified global damping. As can be seen in the screenshot below, the damping assigned to the spring is zero but the simulation exhibits damping. I would like to have the simulated system to behave as the analytical system. Is there a certain global damping parameter that I can set?

The simulation was set up using the standalone motion preprocessor.

Screenshot of basic spring mass system dynamic response with body and spring parameters.

      Regards,

      Christo

      Hi

We will get back to you on that.

      Thanks

      Hi

We tested it and found that numerical damping causes this damped behaviour.

      Set that to zero:

      Hi,

      It solved the problem.

      Thanks.

Great - closing as others might encounter the same.
