Loads on Nodes

      Hello,

I have a basic question related to applying forces on Nodes.

Why it is recommended to apply forces such way? Is there any reason behind?

Can I apply forces on Element faces (preferably on solid elements)?

What makes the difference in structural analysis results if forces are applied to both the way(on nodes/elements)?

Applying a force to a single node is a point load so the stresses could be very large for any non-line elements (solids, shells, plane, etc), It is simulating putting the load on via a rigid needle although it would be like an infinitely tiny needle but extremely rigid.  Applying the force to all of the nodes of an element face or set of faces is usually preferred.  If you need more info please give details about the question since you give no reference to the recommended way.

      Hello,

      Thanks for the quick reply.

I was asking a very generic way... I didn't mean to any specific reference case...

but wanted a difference between them.
