About stresses in the elements

      Hai,

I am doing an analysis of a ship in ansys mechanical. I want to find out the stresses acting on each element. I have done mesh generation and found out the von-mise's stress. But i need to find out the stresses acting on individual elements. In the result file there are stresses corresponding to each node. But is there any way to find out the stresses acting on each element?

Kindly help me to solve the problem. It will be very helpful for the completion of my thesis work.

      Thanks in advance

      Hello,

In Ansys Mechanical, the stresses are calculated in the integration points (Gauss points) of each element and then they are extrapolated to the nodes. That is why they are called elemental nodal results. There are many Display options concerning the stresses (Averaged-Default, Unaveraged, Element Mean etc..) More details and information can be fould in the Documentation.

      Have a great day,

      Stella
