How to set a source with narrow FWHM

      Hello,

I am working on designing a simple QLED model with a single dipole source which bases on the OLED(2D) model from the gallery. To simulate the spectrum of QDs, I've set a small number on wavelength span and disabled the short pulse optimization . But as the picture shows, the FDTD results are unusable. How can I set a dipole source with narrow FWHM correctly or fix the FDTD outputs?

      Hi Ed,

FDTD does provide the ability to create a custom source signal, we typically recommend it to advanced users: Creating a custom source spectrum for an FDTD source. However, before using that I would like to ask a few other questions. When you say unstable is the simulation diverging? If not, have you had a chance to look at this article: Troubleshooting diverging simulations in FDTD.  If it is not diverging, is it running to completion i. e. is the status of the simulation (Click on FDTD and then look at "Status" in the Results View tab) 2 after it has finished?

      Regards,
      Amrita

        Hi Amrita,

Thanks for your reply. The simulation is not diverging. The status of the simulation is 0, and it is always been a "0" when I finish my simulation.

        Regards,

        Ed

      Hi Ed,

The simulation status is 1 when the FDTD is in Layout Mode, or the simulation hasn't run. I will suggest you to check the status immediately after you run the simulation (In the analysis mode).

      Regards,
      Amrita
