I'm not certain what you're asking.   I don't think the magnitude of FS matters when FS<0.   In other words, I think FS=-1.0 or FS=-1.e10 will have the same effect.   If you test this hypothesis and have evidence to the contrary, say so.   Or if I've misinterpreted your question, please elaborate.
