Error in CFD-Post

      Hello.

I'm currently using ANSYS Fluent to try to simulate airflow in a room. I've been following this tutorial to the letter and everything seems to go completely fine (no errors or anything) up until the results step where CFD-post was launched. When I do so, I get this error:

      CFD-Post Application Error

      ERROR

File 'path-to-workbench-filesdp0FFFFluentFFF-1-00200.dat.gz' does not exist or is not readable.

As far as I could discover from my online searches, this may be due to some permission errors or some weird characters in the filepath. However, that doesn't seem to be the case, as neither seems to apply and also the file literally doesn't exist in finder.

This implies it might have not been generated by Fluent in the first place. What other information can I provide here to help?

      Thanks all.

EDIT: Hyperlink didn't work, the tutorial I am following is a YouTube video with the title "Air flow in a room by an Air Conditioner simulating using Ansys Fluent"

if you are using steady state then go to fluent. go to file - export - solution data and then export it to cdat for cfd post and ensight.

then go to windows start and open stand alone cfd post and then read file in this session.

Thanks for your response, I was able to generate a standalone solution file. However, whenever I try to read in the data in CFD-post (File -> Load Results) I get the same error (does not exist or is not readable) - so it seems like something is up with my CFD post.

are you reading in standalone cfdpost session?

I am. At one point, I restarted my VM, and launched cfdpost without touching workbench, and I still got the error selecting the file.

      Hello,

I found this page because I encountered a different problem in a similar process. As a standard practice I always work on Ansys stand-alone programs, and I was trying to export my Fluent solution (version 19.2) through file--> export to CFD post. The problem is that I cannot select the Interior Zone Surfaces (the area is greyed out) and after selecting the variables and pressing "write" I get the following message:

Error: GENERAL-CAR-CDR: invalid argument [1]: improper list

      Error Object: global

EDIT: I also tried exporting the data in other formats (e.g. EnSight Case Gold) and it works

Do you have any idea why this might happen?

Thank you in advance for your support!

In 2D the surfaces area are grayed out. 3D you need to see the surfaces. This is what I observe in the current release.

The error message might be a result of fields left empty or completely something different. I recommend anyway updating as I am aware about some issues in Post being fixed after 19.2.
