problem: A rectangle model shown in figure contains inlet zone, porous zone and outlet zone. It is a multiphase problem where Oil and water droplets flow through it. Oil is considered as continuous phase and water liquid as discrete phase. Hence I am using discrete phase model for particle tracking.

The water lIquid has to be absorbed by the fiber when the oil and water phase passes through the porous zone thereby allowing only oil through flow through it.

      Steps Taken:

      1. Pressured Based Solver

      2. Absolute Velocity Formulation

      3.Transient

      5. Gravity is considered

6.DPM with injection of water liquid from inlet surface with a velocity of 0.44m/s (Rosin Rammler Distribution is selected), Also mass flow rate of 1.1e-3kg/s. Interaction with continuous phase is also selected

      7.Cell zone condition:

Porous Zone with a porosity of 0.9 and viscous resistance is calculated and put in directoon of flow and making other to directioon with much greater viscocity.

      8.Boundary condition:

For fiber the wall treatment is trapped- (in order to see the particle trapped on the fibre)

      9. Simple method and Standard intialization

      My Question :

      1. Is this the correct model I am using for particle tracking or is there any model that will resemble my case?

Porous media is just a fudge there no walls which particles are trapped. You need either to use UDF for that or just simplify the case and just porous jump and trap the particles there.

In porous zone trapping the particle will also require changes in porosity and coefficient ( if one wants to do it very high end)

Question 1:  So, you are telling me that the outer face of the fiber is designed as porous jump and trap partcile in DPM ?

      Or

The whole zone i.e the inlet face of porous zone, interior, outlet face of the porous zone, and the face of fiber is set with porous jump condition? and trap condition for the fiber.  Please correct me

I am also trying to write a UDF for the viscous and inertial resistance  which will change as the permeability increaces with time. Which tells that the  water particle concentration is high  with increase in time.

First try with just 2d internal boundary for the porous zone where you trap the particles.
