I'm trying to model the melting of pure metal and alloys using CFX. I've tried defining a solid phase and a liquid phase using the homogeneous binary mixture, where latent heat of melting is treated using the reference enthalpy of the liquid phase and the motion of the solid phase is suppressed using a momentum source that's based on liquid fraction. 

I'm wondering what other methods are available within CFX to handle melting/solidification problems? Is there any general guidance I could refer to in this regard? The Ansys CFX multiphase flow modelling course seems to be a reasonable source of information, but it appears to be not available at the moment. Thank you in advance!

Hi Ethan,

In CFX there is an Equilibrium phase change model, which is a multicomponent phase change model. And also the Thermal Phase Change Model.
