      How are you?

in ansys apdl  What is the difference between single point response spectrum and Multi point response spectrum ?, and how can i apply multi point response spectrum on the model?.

Please describe your model, the loads you wish to apply to it and the answers you want to get from the model.

I have a circular tank and i'm implementing single point response spectrum by applying the frequency-acceleration curve on the base  and  got maximum displacement ,stress and base shear , but there is another method of response spectrum called multi point response spectrum i want to know about it . ( i heard that multi point means that every point in the model has a different response spectrum curve but i'm not sure).

      thank you.

Multipoint means that you can assign a different spectrum to different supports.

i want to know when should i use multi point response spectrum? ,if i want to study the seismic performance of building i'm using one curve which means single point response spectrum.

so, what are the cases that multi point response spectrum have to be used?.

      Hi Peter,

Thanks for your explanation. It is clear and I just wondering what are the supports defined. Does it mean that any full (or partly) constrained points are supports and will be assigned excitation in single point response spectrum? And in multiple point case, i'd guess user can specify the location explicitly?

      Regards
