How to give excitation in ANSYS Maxwell

      Greetings to everyone!

I hope you are doing well. I'm Hari Kishore, currently pursuing my Masters.

I'm doing transient analysis in ANSYS Maxwell to get the magnetic field distribution on the tube.

Here, I want to give excitation to the coil terminal, which involves discharge capacitance, discharge voltage (of the capacitor bank), line resistance, line inductance, and crowbar resistance. If I use voltage excitation, I'm unable to give the capacitance that is required for a particular discharge energy.

Here, how can I give this type of excitation? Could you please guide me this way?

I've attached an image for your reference.

      Thank you.

Hi @Kantubhukta, there is no capacitance option in Voltage excitation, but you can add use external circuit excitation like MaxCir or Simplorer.

      Thank you, DELI.

I've designed a Maxwell circuit as shown in the figure, representing the elements shown in my previous figure (except exact values).

Is this circuit design the correct representation? I've modeled a tube and coil in Maxwell and plotted force on the tube. I wanted to get a force curve as shown in the figure, which increases first and then decreases. But with the above circuit design, I'm getting a force curve that is continuously increasing.

Could you please guide me to get the correct force plot?

Thank you for your consideration and valuable time.

Hi Kantubhukta, we cannot debug this issue without investigating the project. Please email support@ansys.com and provide them your account information as well as the case number and mention this regards to learning forum. When we get the ticket in the system, one of our engineers will be in touch with you one-on-one.
