HelloÂ
This is a simple model consisting of a male threaded bolt and a female body.Â
The contact between two bodies seem to be done correctly, with 'bonded' type and all surfaces selected correctly.Â
The result (second figure) indicates a high stress on the bolt but almost no stress on the female body, although the first figure indicates some load transferred to the top surface of the female body.Â
I believe that definitely more load should be transferred to the female body and I expect to see a corresponding higher magnitude of stress. What could I have done wrong here?
Please advise.Â
Thank you

Ansys EmployeeUse the initial contact tool to see if all the contacts are being activated.
Try MPC contact.
If the above suggestions don't help and if the bodies are touching each other, try Shared Topology between the 2 bodies.

SubscriberDear Mr. Medikonda
Thank you for your advice
I checked the initial contact tool, and this is what I got. It looks like the contact is closed but could have an issue with gap and penetration?
I used the MPC contact and it didn't work.
I checked and confirmed that the shared topology is already set to automatic

Do you think this might have to do with the size of the mesh? my mesh is really coarse. But then if there was no contact points due to the coarse mesh, I should've got some warning message I believe.Â
Your advice is greatly appreciated.Â
ThanksÂ

Ansys EmployeeAre the 2 bodies touching? Use a section view to look at it.
It looks like contact is established...but you can increase the pinball radius and monitor to see if the Number Contacting is increasing.
What kind of analysis is this? Linear or non-linear? Are you using large deflection?
Either way, I think you would need more mesh refinement.
One way you can check the effect of contact is to suppress it and look at how much penetration/interference is occurring in your model between the bodies.
