SubscriberHi,
I have faced this several times that if I stop a calculation during the first iteration, it would not stop and the stop option would also be disabled! then,I have either to wait until all calculations end, or force the program to exit(end-task), which I do not like to do so.
Is there a solution stop if the 'stop' button has disabled?
In the figure below, I have set 1000 iterations, after clicking the 'calculate', I remembered something else to change and I pushed the 'stop'. It continues calculating and the stop is also disabled.

Ansys EmployeeAre you using a Solution Strategy? Please screenshot of the Run panel. Which models are activated?

SubscriberI am not familiar with Solution Strategy, Usually, I go to Run Calculation, and after the settings, I start to Calculate.
Regarding the models, several models (turbulence, species transport, energy) have been set in this case, therefore each iteration takes around 80 seconds, and if I stop it during the first iteration (first seconds), 'Stop' will be disabled.
I have seen this several times in different CFD models.
Here is the screenshot, since the model is still running I could not change the layout to a default layout:

Ansys EmployeeCan you reproduce on smaller case with similar physics? I cannot reproduce it.

SubscriberI have a smaller model including only flow and turbulence, which I tried to Stop quickly. There the Stop can interrupt. So it is not a problem there,

Ansys EmployeeYou said if you hit Stop at first iteration the stop will be disabled but will the run stop afterwards? I guess you have a plenty of reaction kinetics which might cause the lag..

SubscriberNo, it does not stop afterwards. I have to wait until completion of the specified iterations. Or I can force it to stop (task manager-end task), which results in loosing the unsaved case and data.
Yes, I have the chemical reactions going on. But still, why the Stop is disabled until the calculation is complete?

Ansys EmployeeIs it a large case? Can you reproduce the behavior for the same case on other machine?

SubscriberDepends on how you define a 'Large case'. This case has only 153k cells and 666k nodes, but many physics are included and it iterates very slow, as I mentioned above.
Unfortunately, I do not have another machine to test it. and the 1000 iterations are finished. So, next time I will be careful not to push the 'STOP' quickly.

Forum ModeratorIf stop fails click on the TUI window and use  CTRL+C  which is an old UNIX interrupt command. That usually stops it. Be careful to hit C as one of the neighbouring keys is terminate....Â
Make sure you report every iteration: I see too many models with the update set at 10 and this can also confuse the stop command if pressing it coincides with "something" happening in the solver.Â

SubscriberI tried, CTRL+C interrupts it.
Thanks
