How to vary density along one axis in Ansys Workbench

      Hello,

I have a model, a MDF (Medium-density fibreboard) plate in ANSYS workbench.

As you can see, its density varies along the z direction (thickness direction).

I know I can divide the plate into some thinner plate with constant density but I use this plate for the transient analysis and the plate is covered with some (more than 10) absorptions layers. For each absorptions layer, there is an APDL-snippet to define the damping coefficient.

If I do so, the absorptions layers should also be divided into some thinner layers. It will be a complex model.

How can I vary the density?

      Thanks a lot!

      Hi,

You can use the field variable to specify spatially varying densities.

      Regards,
      Sandeep

      Hi Sandeep,

I use the student version 19.2 but I do not find the Coordinate Z for density.

      Regard,
