set license server

      Hello to everyone


      I'm try to specify the license server machine on my laptop by Client ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility. After clicking on ''specify the license server machine'' i add server machine specification and enter the server ip address but when i click on ''view statut display the license status'' gives me  the following message:


      License server status: 1055@*****


          License file(s) on *******: 1055@*******:


       


      lmgrd is not running: License server machine is down or not responding. (-96,7:11001 "WinSock: Host not found (HOST_NOT_FOUND)")


      Ansys works perfectly on the server machine and there are also license aviable but i can't use them on my laptot.

      Hi,


      Could you please check if there is a Firewall enabled on the license server that might be blocking the communication from your client machine?


      If so, please try to add Firewall exceptions to these exes under C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensingwinx64


      ansysli_server, ansysli_monitor, ansyslmd, lmgrd

      I tried to add Firewall exceptions but the problem wasn't solved. Thanks for you help , any other idea ?

      Hi Marcocesari,


      On your laptop, please open a command prompt:


      Start -> type cmd -> Click on Command Prompt


      then try to ping the license server hostname:


      ping server_host_name


       


      Does that resolve properly?


      If so, try the same thing from the license server it self (pinging itself).


      Do the ip addresses match?

      Hi Jake Callery , 


      Thanks for your help , I fix the problem . 


      In the license file there wasn't the right ip address of server machine , so my laptop could not received the license. After changed the ip address on the license file the problem was fixed.
