      Hello all

How can we check the mesh element for 3D in fluent?.

why do you want to check mesh element?

you can check quality under domain - mesh - quality

if you want to mark cells with quality, you can create cell register.

please check help manual about cell registers.

      Dear kkanade,

Thanks for the reply actually i get a comment during a submission of journal. I know the quality procedure but about the mesh element, i dont understand the structure.

The mesh elements are tetrahedrals, hexahedrals etc. We check quality and cell count (occasionally) but otherwise we don't check the element "types".  What exactly did the journal ask for?

      Dear rwoolhou

Yes you are right and i think we can check by considering the shape (visual inspection). Reviewer just ask me "what is CFD mess that i used".

I check some manuals and it is showing tetrahedrals and sweep mesh for automatic meshing.

      Kindly response.

They may just want a cell count and what types (eg mainly tet mesh with inflation near the walls). You'll need to clarify this with the reviewer.

you can display outline and see if surface mesh is tri or quad or poly.

if its tri - cells are tet

if its quad - cells are hex or prisms

if its poly - cells are poly.

      Dear kknade,

Thanks for the reply but i dont understand you meaning DISPLAY OUTLINE. Is there any option for it? i just opened the mesh box and check the shape of mesh

ok. this image is from mesh.

its all tri mesh. looks like you have all tetrahedral mesh.

if you have inflation defined then you may have some prisms.

in mesh details, please select orothogonal quality in mesh quality option. it will display histogram and will give more information about mesh.

      Dear KKANDE,

Thanks for the reply and help, i found the size. It is showing in the mesh metrics of element quality but what is the meaning of wed? Thanking you.

it is wedge element i.e. prisms.

hi , i am unable to perform edge sizing .

it simply creates the nodes at edges but doesnt form elements.

i had done edge sizing before for various other geometries. but now, even for simple rectangle, it doesnt work. what would be the problem?

i had attached the zoomed image where u can see nodes created on the edges but it did not create respective mesh elements. can someone help me out please?
