environment variable CFX5ROOT

      Dear Community,

      happy new year.

      I use FLUENT "Academic Student Release" 19.2 on a Windows-PC.

      I try to get output via "Export to CFD-Post", but the message

      Unable to launch CFD Post from (path not fully displayed, ending in .../CFD-Post/bin/cfx5post.exe)
      Please set environment variable CFX5ROOT and try again.

      pops up.

      Strikingly, I find cfx5post.exe only in a different path:
      C:prgANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192CFXbin

      I am a computer moron and our system administrator is still on holidays.

      How can be problem be fixed ? Where and how do I have to set the environment variable ?

      I am aware that I can disable the Open CFD-Post option, and load the file manually. Would be nice though.

      Your kind assistance is greatly appreciated.

      Regards

      FrankR

      Hi FrankR,

      Normally, you should not need to set any extra environment variable.

      I think there is something off here with the installation.

      Since I don't see the full path that it's trying to launch /CFD-Post/bin/cfx5post.exe , I don't know if this is under the same parent directory as C:prgANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192CFX

      Check this, open CMD Prompt, then type

      set a

      then, see if your ANSYS192_DIR and AWP_ROOT192 are pointing to the correct path (e.g., ANSYS192_DIR=C:prgANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192ANSYS  and AWP_ROOT192=C:prgANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192

      Thanks,

      Win

      Dear tsiriaks

      thank you. On the command prompt I get

      H:>set a
      ALLUSERSPROFILE=C:ProgramData
      ANSYS192_DIR=C:PrgANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192ANSYS
      ANSYS_SYSDIR=winx64
      ANSYS_SYSDIR32=win32
      ANS_OLD_ATTACH=1
      AWP_LOCALE192=de
      AWP_ROOT192=C:PrgANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192

      cfx5post.exe resides in
      C:prgANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192CFXbin

      cfx5post.pl resides in
      C:prgANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192CFXbinperllib

      Do you have any other advice ?

      Do not invest too much brainwork: I am aware that I can disable the Open CFD-Post option, and load the output file from FLUENT manually.

      Thanks once more,

      Regards

      Hi Frank,

      On the shortcut that you used to launch stand-alone CFD-Post, right click -> Open file location -> right click on the shortcut and select 'Properties'

      Post the content of the 'Target' here.

      Also try this, open CMD Prompt then use this command

      move %appdata%Ansys %appdata%Ansys.old

      does this make any difference ? If not, post the output of

      set c

      Thanks,

      Win
