SubscriberI am learning how to do thermal simulation with workbench. Because the heat in a tire is generated by the deformation of the rubber, so I want to add the heat generation rate (a function about stress and strain) as a heat source. But I didn't find a tutorial about this. Does anyone know how to do it? Maybe something about APDL?

Forum ModeratorHi Bond,
If you know the heat generation locations at different locations then you can use the External Data module to apply heat generation on a deformed model. I am not sure on how you can do the same based on stress and strain.

SubscriberThank you very much for your answer! What I'm thinking of is inserting stresses and strains as initial variables in the steady state thermal analysis, and then constructing a function about the stresses and strains via APDL commands. The function results are then added to the nodes as heat generation rate loads. Is this possible?

Forum ModeratorHi,
I think you will need to apply heat generation on elements via BFE command.
