SubscriberI am conducting a "Structural Static" analysis in Ansys Workbench. I am using a triple leaf spring as my model, as shown in the figure (note: you should attach the figure in your forum post). However, I can't observe any slip. When I increase the force or reduce the friction, the analysis starts to give errors. I suspect this is because the program can't find a solution once slipping starts in the static analysis. What kind of solution method would you recommend for such problems?

SubscriberI recommend you slice the geometry down the center in the YZ plane and discard the left half. Then slice the geometry down the center in the XY plane and discard the back half.Â
In Mechanical, add an X = 0 displacement (leaving the others Free) to every cut face in the YZ plane. Add a Z = 0 displacement (leaving the others Free) to every cut face in the XY plane.
Now the leaves of the spring cannot escape and any motion in the Y direction is controlled by Frictional Contact between the leaves.
