SubscriberI am intrested to calculate the switching losses for IGBT switch in Hbridge configuration. Using the basic dynamics switch available in Ansys Simplorer (twinbuilder). The module used in the following results is ABB (5SNA0800N330100) : Nominal Vce = 1800V and Ic = 800A. The fundamental frequency used = 50Hz and switching frequency = 500Hz. The dc link voltage = 1800V.Â
Using the available Eon (on switching energy) and Eoff (off switching energy) will always yeild a ZERO or constant loss eventhough (Vce * Ic) is not zero nor it is constant. Losses (on/off) should follow the following equations:Â
I tried different low/high frequencies the on energy loss always zero while the energy off loss always constant.Â
What is the correct method to calculate the switching loss in Ansys Simplorer?Â
Thanks,
HaithamÂ

Ansys EmployeeHello Haitham,Â
Fot this IGBT component, external synchronization signal SYNC is a trigger necessary for the device model to behave correctly. Please double click the component and enter the SYNC source (maybe gate drive voltage) to replace "0".Â
Please review the Twin builder help manual and load example for this IGBT component. Thanks.
