      Hi Amrita,

I have the following questions from example https://optics.ansys.com/hc/en-us/articles/18254409091987:

      1. Locate the 3 .dll files lumhdf5.dll, lumhdf5_hl.dll, and zlib1.dll in the install folder of Lumerical and copy them in the installation folder of Zemax

What exact folder should I copy to these dll's? I copied it to Zemax>DLL>Surfaces as in step 3. Is it correct?

      1. Open the file metalens_R10mm_f300mm.zprj and see how the metalens is defined

I have the lates Zemax Optics Studio, and when I am trying to open this file, the extension of this file is not in the list. How can I open this file in OpticStudio?

      Where can I find lumerical-metalens-XXXX.dll

      Thanks!

      Hi Maryna,

I haven't actually spent a lot of time on this example. But I think it is referring to the location where the Lumerical installation files are stored. For, exmaple in my case it is in the Program Files. So if you go to Program Files-->Lumerical-->v232 (or if you are using a different relase)--> bin, then you should be able to locate these files (I found them there as well). You can try and let me know if it is not working. I can check with my colleagues in that case.

      Regards,
      Amrita

You are welcome! The .zprj is in the Zipped Folder that you download from the article itself. This one, right?

Which one is the other dll, you said?

I have the zprj file, I can't open it in OpticSrudio, it doesn't recognize this extension.

lumerical-metalens-XXXX.dll is nowhere to be found.

Thanks for clarifying. Go to the folder where Zemax is installed. Then DLL-->Surfaces. There you should be able to locate the lumerical-metalens-XXXX.dll  file. Copy this, paste it in the downloaded folder (making sure it's unzipped). And see if you can now open the Zemax file now. I beileve you can alternatively set the path in Zemax when you open it.

There is no lumerical-metalens-XXXX.dll in the DLL->surfaces. I scanned the computer, and no dll files containing words lumerical-metalens are present on the computer. According to the documentation, zprj file is a database file, and it is not supported by Zemax. A version of the program is OpticStudio R1.03.

I could find this file in the Zemax folder I mentioned:

I am using 2023 R2.02. It could be to do with the release. Let me check and get back to you.

      Hi Amrita,

Thanks a lot for your hard work. I think all the problems come from the older versions of the software I am using.

      Kind regards,

      Maryna

      Hi Maryna,

You are welcome! I think you are right. I didn't see anything concrete but from some documentations I suspect that you will have to install 2023R2 release of Zemax or newer. I can confirm that with you but it might take me a while. I would suggest you to install the latest version to be on the safe side. But please let me know if that does not work for you.

      Regards,
      Amrita

      Hi Maryna,

Sorry you are facing all these issues. I have been busy since this morning. But I will take a closer look and get back to you. Otherwise I will direct you to the Ansys Optical Forum which is more focused on Zemax: ALF-Optical.

      Regards,
      Amrita

      Hi Maryna,

I was in touch with my Zemax colleague and she mentioned that the issue has been resolved. Feel free to create a new post if you face any other Lumerical related issues.

      Regards,
      Amrita
