SubscriberHello,
In the waveguide based glasses development repored in most of the papapers or technical reports, there is eyepupil expansion and related out-coupling gratings onto a light guide. And most of the output is parallel beam output. My question now is:
How to add the power (focusing, diverging et al) on to the out-coupling surface relief gratings? which kinds of parameters can be modified for this?Â

Hello Bailin,
I think you asked question in wrong forum. This forum is for photonics.Â
You are asking question related to Augmented Reality right?Â
or are you asking question related to Exit Pupil Expander with 1D-2D Gratings – Ansys Optics?
Let me know.Â
If its Augmented eality please post your question here:Â Optical (ansys.com).
ThanksÂ

SubscriberSorry, it is not related to potonics? suppose the photon-material interaction scale is similar.

SubscriberThe quuestion in nature is: How to add power to the grating, it means the light diffracted will be focused et al.

Ansys EmployeeThe Answer to that depends on what type of gratings. Are you talking about gratings in integrated photonis? or are you talking about gratings simular to this? Exit Pupil Expander with 1D-2D Gratings – Ansys Optics

SubscriberCan you let me know exactly where I can really drop the question?
In the link you listed, there are lumerical based design and zemax based design. That is a system level there. Now I am asking question in the photonic component level.Â
To the key point: how to add the power to a grating? for example, when you illuminate a periodic grating of some area with a rectangular (colliminated )beam, there are diffraction or reflection orders? how to get a focused beam output?

If its Zemax questions you can post it at Optics forum: Optical (ansys.com)
If its Lumerical based you can post here in Photonics.Â
Thanks and regards
