Hey,
I know how to import a Nastran .bdf deck into Workbench (using Windows 10 and 2022R2) with the external model card (or import option) but it never imports all the applied loads and boundary conditions (aero loads on a wing in this case). Is there an option so that Ansys reads the data correct and applies the loads on the corresponding nodes like it is done in Nastran/Hypermesh? Would be great if somebody could help me out.
Thanks in advance!

Hi
See our help manual. Search for: importing mesh based databases.
Then look for imported boundary conditions (see for direct link in Aniket's post below) and look at those supported for Nastran. See then if those include the BC/loads you have in your Nastran file (if the loads in your Nastran file are not listed in the help manual then they are not supported).
All the best
Erik

Hey Erik, thanks for the quick response. With the help manual you mean the WB user's guide? (the only documentation I know about and that I can find in the help area). I cannot find anything specific on .bdf imports with loads and BC in there.

Please check if the BCs that are used in the input file are listed in supported ones here:

It is in the mechanical user's guide, and under:
SPECIFYING GEOMETRY | MODELS FROM EXTERNAL MESHES AND MODEL ASSEMBLIES | IMPORTING MESH-BASED GEOMETRY | IMPORTING MESH-BASED DATABASES | Imported Boundary Conditions

Thanks for the link! So ich checked and it should import the "PLOAD" values from the Nastran file but it does not. I'm not sure what's the problem.Â
It does import four SPC conditions from the external model but no loads. Further it imports layers from the composite layup but there are always questionmarks next to the "Imported layers" section in the analysis tree.Â
I somehow thought that it would be easier to import an entire model. Maybe somebody has an idea on what parts I should import and what should be added in ansys?
