Hello everyone,
I ran my result and got my results for the electric field. I have used both DFTmonitor and Monitor expansion. I have such a formula to calculate the potential only with the fundamental mode:U= Ex * conj(Ex) + Ey * conj(Ey) + Ez * conj(Ez)
Using the monitor expansion, I have "a" and "b" coefficints, corresponding to transmission coefficints of each mode. And "output power" from DFTmonitor, let's name it P_simulation.
Also, I want to calculate the potential with power P_desired=30mw. I wonder if this correction makes sense:
U= abs(a_fund-mode + b_fund-mode) * P_desired / P_simulation * [Ex * conj(Ex) + Ey * conj(Ey) + Ez * conj(Ez) ] -

U= Ex * conj(Ex) + Ey * conj(Ey) + Ez * conj(Ez)
is the Poynting vector along z axis;
P_desired / P_simulation * [Ex * conj(Ex) + Ey * conj(Ey) + Ez * conj(Ez) ]
seems reasonable. however
abs(a_fund-mode + b_fund-mode) * P_desired / P_simulation * [Ex * conj(Ex) + Ey * conj(Ey) + Ez * conj(Ez) ]
is not reasonable, since a and b are the transmission/reflection complex coefficients and they usually do not work to be summed up and apply to power quantities.
Please check your original idea of “potential”: what exactly does it mean in math expression in physics?

a and b coefficients are not the full description of the power portion. please refer to this article:

you have all the results you need from the simulaiton. Hopefully you can get your desired result.
