SubscriberHello,
I have a problem. I would like to develop a solenoid coil for my thesis. For this I use polylines to represent the windings. The X,Y,Z positions are given as variables. If I want to change the number of turns I have to add more lines. Is it possible to add more line elements to an existing polyline without adding a new polyline and unite them togehter? If I add a new polyline then the edges intersect and there is no nice corner (take a look at the picture).
Maybe you can help me. Thanks
Kind Regards
Arne

Ansys EmployeeHey Arne - I'd suggest using the "Draw Equation Based Curve" instead of making individual polylines.
Here you can find the equations to draw a helix for your solenoid model:Â http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Helix.html
This way you can parameterize the equation based line to account for the overall length, diameter, number of turns, and number of line segments per turn.
Best,
Peter

I´ll try it out tomorrow and give you feedback.

SubscriberHello,
i tried your way and seems to be a possible way for my problem. But the computing for your solution tooks a very long time.
It is still possible to add some new lines to an existing polyline? Respectively i would like to have a perfect connection (without the intersection - compare my picture) between the connected polylines. How is this possible? This is very interesting for a few other projects?
Kind Regards
Arne
