Ansys EmployeeHi Farooqi,
I would recommend to find a new machine with better resources.
You can refer to the requirement from here
https://www.ansys.com/academic/free-student-products  -> Select the package -> System and Browser Requirements
Also, the .NET Framework 4.6.2 is required, you can't use other version. If your OS can't install it, please find other edition that allows you to install that.
You can find more general platform support information here
https://www.ansys.com/Solutions/Solutions-by-Role/IT-Professionals/Platform-Support
Thank you,
Win

Ansys EmployeeJudging by the date when the student version was originally announced, ref:
https://www.ansys-blog.com/ansys-student-version-released-today-free-download/
I think the oldest student version would be v 16.2. The download link and systems requirement for this version has been taken out. So, I won't give much hope on this. But let's see if others have any other thoughts on this.

Assuming the graphics will run the older versions you'll be fine, but you will be looking at small models. Have a look to see how much free RAM you have after launching and that will give you some guides on how many cells you can run. Make sure you've switched off everything you don't need when running the ANSYS tools (web browser etc): whilst a new machine is the easy (expensive) solution if you can get some RAM that'll help too.Â
My first machine had 128MB RAM, and that was enough for 95k cells in Fluent 4, but I also didn't have Windows eating resource.Â
