Ansys EmployeeHOE is a kind of diffraction element. So you can either use RCWA or FDTD to get the result, then import to Zemax. Please refer this exmaple:

Ansys EmployeeBTW: many years ago there is a theory to convert HOE as non-spherical optical lens so you can do the ray tracing through special software. Probably you can find some reference papers.

Ansys EmployeeHi Chris, good to know Zemax' capability fordirect simulatig HOE. In the last centry HOE was treated as non-spherical, off -axis surface optical element.
