Forum ModeratorWhen you say you fiddled with the folder locations, what did you do with them? Which solver are you using?Â

Subscriberi was using explicit dynamics.Fiddling as in i using the tools options in Ansys went to project management and then fiddle with the permanant and temporary file locations i think i saved the former to D drive and latter to E.I even changed the desktops name while the solver was on.but not only this file but all files i had earlier with me,they are also not opening.I had wbpj and wbpz files they are also not opening.Any urgent solution?Pls specify

Forum ModeratorOK, changing the save destinations shouldn't cause a problem. The wbpz file should extract (open the archive). If it doesn't check the path you saved (or are saving to) to make sure you have write permissions, and that there are no command or odd characters in the path.Â
Can you post the error messages that you're seeing?Â

Forum ModeratorHi Kumar.  This is a community forum, we (ANSYS staff & others) aren't on all the time so please be patient.Â
Write permissions, simply is whether you are allows to save files to that location. Depending on who owns the machine certain folders are typically locked: this can include the default folders that ANSYS Workbench usually writes to.Â
Looking at the screen shots the software can see the licence (otherwise there would be nothing in the Analysis Systems & Components tree) and in the first case the solver looks to have run & completed successfully (green ticks).
If you reboot the computer can you open a geometry component, right click and try to edit? Also please upload the archive, ANSYS staff can't check this, but other community members can.Â
I would also recommend checking with your course colleagues to see if they're having problems: it could be caused by your IT system and that isn't something we can fix.Â

SubscriberHi Kumar,
It looks like you may be using Windows 10 as the OS on the computer.
ANSYS 16.2 is not supported on Windows 10.Â
That is not to say it won't work, only that it was never tested.Â
What was tested was Windows 7 and 8.1 so if you use those,
there is less probability of having a problem.
Don't fiddle with files installed by ANSYS. Just don't.
I recommend uninstalling ANSYS and reinstalling to clean up.
After you uninstall, use Windows Explorer to go to %AppData% and delete the Ansys folder from Roaming, then go up one level and down into the Local folder and delete the Ansys folder from there, then go to C:Program Files and delete the Ansys folder from there.
Regards,
Peter -

Forum ModeratorCan you change the computer name back? You may have scrambled the licence system or links into your network.Â
