Hi everyone !
I'm a student from Switzerland, working on the development of a High voltage battery for a formula student racecar. I'm new to Discovery and I'm trying to run a "simple" thermal simulation of our battery with li-ion cells and air cooling. Â
The model is as follow:Â
I have rectangle shapes for the cells that are heating, touching aluminium plates for convection cooling. I created the air volume and inlet / outlet for air flow.Â
The simulation does not work because discovery can't define the proper physic on the interface between the heating body and the fluid (faces that are not connected to the aluminium plate ). I assume the configuration of conducting non-slip walls (fluid) and thermal physic is wrong.Â
The warning:Â impossible to determine the correct physical configuration to solve. Make sure the geometry is free of interfering bodies and try to mark faces or use repair tools.Â
The faces that poses problems:
Â
I tried to remove the cells in the fluid-solid interface and set the exposed faces to convection or isolated, but nothing works !
I really hope to find help here, I'm stuck on this project :/. Let me know if there is anything else needed, or if you have any path that could help. ?
Â
Really appreciated,
Â

I simplified the model even more, but I still have the same error on the imprinted faces (between the solids and also between solid and fluid volume).Â
Somebody have an idea what cause the problem on the imprinted faces ?
It says : Can't define the correct physical configuration to solve.

Hi Daniel Beck ,
I tried simulating the files at my end, there are some corrections to be made in the setup like removing the insulation, prevented contacts, value for Swirling RPM.
Please refer to these videos for setting up proper conditions Getting Started - Thermal - Discovery Getting Started - Ansys Discovery Forum
Thanks and Regards

Atharv Joshi I think you were referring to the first file I sent. I modified the model, but now I still have an error that has no information.Â
Do you have an idea that would save me ? ?

Atharv Joshi That's great, I was using 2021 R2. But I tried with the academic 2023 R1 and I was able to run it almost successfully (Discovery often had critical errors after solving and the app had to restart).
I will have a look at the model you sent me.Â
Great to know that there is an error log, I was looking for it !

Daniel Beck , I have shared a secure transfer delivery with you.
If you are still facing error solving it, please share the log files located at C:UsersAppDataLocalTempDiscovery from the error session.Â
Thanks and Regards
