I am trying to simulate a 3 phase induction motor in Ansys Maxwell 2D. There is no gap between the shaft of the motor and the rotor for the motor model that I am trying to simulate. The shaft is made up of Carbon steel whereas the rotor is made up of electrical steel. The outer diameter of the shaft touches the rotor over a region without any gap in between the both structures. I am getting the following errors when trying to analyze the model:
I tried using the default mesh as well, hoping that might make the error go away. Yet, I was able to see the same error.
Could you please suggest how could the error be rectified ?

SubscriberYes, I am using the 2023 version. After I import the geometry back again, I have to redefine all the excitations, end-connections, meshes, mechanical transients etc. This takes a significant amount of time. Is there another way to solve the glitch without having to re-define all the other parameters which takes up time ?

SubscriberThank you for the suggestion. I tried doing that. But, I am seeing another error upon exporting the parts with issue (the shaft and the rotor core in my case) and importing those back into the model. I have attached the error below which says: Model moving objects should be completely within the band. I did not make any modifications to the Motion Setup and the moving band, just deleted the old rotor core and shaft and imported the rotor core and shaft from the .x_b file.
Can you please help me out with this ?

Ansys EmployeeIt seems like the band has some issue. Is the band circle true surface or segmented? Please also double check if the band circle is cleanly separated from stator and rotor.

SubscriberThis error goes away when I leave some gap between the shaft and rotor, however it pops up as soon as I make the shaft diameter equal to the rotor inner diameter. There is no gap between the shaft and the rotor in the machine which I am trying to model. There is no error in the motion band, but the circles being referred in the error would be the shaft and the inner rotor circumference (which touches the shaft). These circles are not segmented.
(I have included the error message and the image for this in the first question on this thread)
Looking for suggestions to to sort this error out.

Ansys EmployeeCould you try redrawing the shaft by create a circle that covers the shaft>> deduct rotor from the circle?

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried doing that. If I subtract the rotor from the new circle, I loose the rotor core. This is shown in the below figures:

Could you please suggest what could be done to rectify the error without loosing the shaft and the rotor core (as both are an important part of my model) ?

SubscriberTry Classic mesh method--->manual settings for initial mesh settings. start with 1.6mm and 30 deg. This works for me sometimes.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried going as per GLUO's suggestions and it worked out for me. It seems like there is a glitch on the Ansys 2023 R1 version in some cases when you draw a geometry with surfaces touching each other.
