Hi, there seems to be a bug with ANSYS Workbench 2022R2 when submitting a RSM job ("Update Project") to HPC. The requested number of processes doesn't tally with the number of CPU requested in the RSM logs and causes the job to be rejected by the HPC. Kindly refer to images below for HPC configuration and the screenshot of the error. Is there anyway to mitigate this error? Thanks!

Hello
This is not a bug, this is documented and expected behavior. Please refer to point number 10 at this Ansys Documentation page

Hi Mangesh,
Thank you for pointing out that. Another question that I have is what is the default number of cpu requested if i set the component execution mode to be serial?
I've faced a weird issue where I set the it to serial and submit the project to a RSM queue that have 256 cpu cores (I was expecting that it will use all the 256 cores to solve) but it seems like only 2 cpu cores were requested and causing my job submission to be rejected. How do I ensure serial component execution use all the cores available in the RSM queue?

Hello
Serial solver by definition would mean it uses 1 core and then the job itself adds a second core, thus the 2.
to use more than 1 core, parallel should be selected.
please refer to https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v232/en/wb2_help/wb2h_submitprojrsm.html

you can try specifying parallel execution and 254 or 255 cores to remain under 256. Hope this helps

Hi Mangesh, thank you again for your response. I guess it’s a lil bit confusing since we’re specifying method for component execution mode which either the job should run in serial or paralell and it should not define how many cpu core we’re going to use running either mode. Just wondering under what circumstances one might use the serial component execution mode in the RSM job submission?
