Hi Akshay,

Thanks for your sharing. I have solved this similarly to the solutions mentioned in your provided link. I added a Contact Sizing mesh to the failing contact, the mesh was refined and the normal are all the same now. 

A follow-up question is, how to use ANORM in APDL?
