Static Structural Model Error with Shape-memory-alloy.

      Hello,

This may be a very basic question but I was really unable to find a solution to the same online. I created a new superelastic material using Engineering Data to model the superelastic properties of a Nickel-Titanium alloy (Nitinol).
I specified the following parameters for this material:
Isotropic Elasticity: Young's Modulus, Poisson's Ratio.
SuperElasticity: Sigma SAS, Sigma FAS, Sigma SSA, Sigma FSA, Epsilon (Maximum Residual Strain), Alpha (Parameter measuring the difference between material responses in tension and compression).

Afterwards, I tried to simulate simple beam bending for a cylindrical beam fixed at one end, and force applied along its axis. While the model solves correctly producing correct solutions for Steel and other linear materials (even Nitinol, with Non-linear Effects suppressed works fine), I get the following error when I run the simulation with the material defined above: "The option of SMA on the TB command is either not available for this version of ANSYS or the appropriate product was not selected for this session. Contact your ANSYS support person for more information."

Can someone help with solving this issue?
      Thanks in advance!

I have seen this error at work where there are three different ANSYS licenses with different material model capabilities. I will use a high-end license that supports all the material models to create a project that runs on that license. Later, I will open that project with a low-end license that supports only a limited subset of the material models. That is when I will see that error.

What kind of license are you using?

I'm seeing this error on both my machines, and both of those are using the "ANSYS Aim Pro" license from my educational institution (by the way, I'm using ANSYS 18.2 on both machines). I'm able to add the material properties on both the machines in "Engineering Data", and yet the same error pops up on both machines.

I don't work for ANSYS and can't look up the details of the material models that are supported in ANSYS AIM Pro, but it seems that those materials may not be included in AIM Pro.

I agree. AIM didn't support the material, and I talked to the ANSYS support team to get the right product.
Hopefully this thread will help guide others before they install the right product.
