SubscriberHello,
I am trying to mesh the body of a Formula 1 car using Fluent meshing. I have tried to simplfy the body in SpaceClaim. I have also made sure that the 'check geometry' option doesn't return any errors. When I attempt to mesh the body I encounter several errors.
If I try to mesh the body by defining face sizing options, the surface mesh is successful however there are parts of the surface that are not well captured and seem to be deformed. My solution to this was to use a smaller target size however I encounter the following errors or some combination of them if I use a sizing of lower than 0.5 mm:
Breaking point detectedFront could not be closed at beXXXX (coordinates) and Failed to project bn49937 bn49936 (front-edges) onto faceI have also tried to use the curvature option to generate the mesh but the same set of errors appear, mainly the first two.
I would like to know what might be causing these errors and how I can solve this problem. It is strange to me that a smaller mesh size results in more errors for some reason.
Best,
Amir

Ansys EmployeeI assume you did Check Geometry in SpaceClaim. So I assume you are importing SpaceClaim geometry in Fluent Meshing watertight workflow. While importing in FM, try to reduce the tolerance in settings. Also try latest 2023R1 version.
Please go through help manual for more details

SubscriberHello,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have done the geometry check and there was no error. Exactly, I'm using the watertight workflow. Could you tell me where this option is, is it part of the advanced options (under use custom faceting) in the import geometry section?

SubscriberThank you Keyur.
I also encounter another issue which is not an error but it is unwanted. When I do the surface mesh, at the end I get the following message
''After Surface mesh, the model consists of 1 fluid/solid regions and 1 voids''
However, I don't have a void in my geometry and this is not desirable for my case. I also checked the geometry in SpaceClaim using the ''gap'' repair function and nothing was found. Is there a way I can avoid this?
Best regards,Amirmohammad

Ansys EmployeeYou can change region type while updating regions in the watertight workflow.
