Dear friends,
I am trying to create boundary layer structured mesh in ICEM. I would like to define specific number of boundary layers.
What I understood is that in Pre-Mesh Params > Meshing Parameters, Spacings just determine the height of the first/last cell and using Ratio the height of the adjucent cells of them are determined. But in this part we are not able to define the number of boundary layers.
For the rectangular shape below, how can I define a certain number of boundary layers on the upper wall?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello,
You need to input the number of nodes which create number of divisions on the edge. The divisions will occur according to the Mesh law you select.

I din't notice. How can I have a certain number of boundary layers (For Example 10) on the top wall ?

Hello,
The default value is two nodes for any edge initially. That is, one element. If you have three nodes, then there are two divisions or elements. Like that. So if you want 10 layers (divisions or elements), you need to input 11 nodes. I hope you understood my point.

Yes, I completely understand, but this method that you say is dividing the line. I want to have 10 boundary layers near the surface and the rest of the geometry to be segmented without ratio.

Ok, I understood. For that, you can split the edge into boundary layer edge and other in without segmented ratio. The length at which the edge can be split can be chosen by you. Either manually (arbitrarily) select the portion on edge which will split it. Or create the point at the location where you want to split.Â
This way, you can independently assign the divisions and Mesh laws to the two separate edges.

Yes, I had tried this, but I think it is not the combination of the structure mesh with the boundary layer. I have seen in some forms that the structure mesh is created with the boundary layer.

Could you please elaborate?
