Compression of plates along

      Hi all. I solve such a problem, I have a lot of bent plates that form a cylinder protruding to each other. Each plate is 1m long. I need to squeeze them lengthwise to see how they open in different directions and with what effort.

      For tests, I'm only compressing two plates so far, but I'm getting standard element destruction errors:

      I made them shells. Here are the settings:

       

      I also thought that the plates are incompressible due to the fact that they are bent and there is a strong momentum when they break, then I added a little pressure to the center to start bending immediately but this did not help:

      Hi,

      Can you share what other boundary conditions are applied to the plates? Use 'Asymmetric' behavior for contacts. You can try using a buckling analysis as well to get the load under which plates will buckle.

      Hi

      In addition, look at nonlinear stabilization (under nonlinear controls in analysis settings) that can aid converge when and after they buckle.
