Mesh is not always symmetric.

Hi, I am Jimmy. I try to mesh my model, but I dont know why the mesh is always not symmetry, You can see in the pic left side and right side is different. Is that so important? How to make it better?

      Hi Jimmy,

Geometry that is sweepable makes good quality meshes. If you use DesignModeler, you can Slice the solid using Planes to make sweepable bodies. If one face has 4 sides, a Face Meshing mesh control can make a good mesh.

Export a Parasolid file of your geometry from DesignModeler or SpaceClaim and attach that to the discussion. I can download that file and show you what can be done.

Let me know if you are using 18.2 or 17.2 and if you are using DesignModeler or SpaceClaim for your geometry editing.

      Regards, Peter

Thank you so much for your reply. I used 18.2 DM and I have tried to cut the model into many parts. But you can see my model was a little bit come complicated. I have attached them, Give me some advice,

the mesh file can not be uploaded, too large?

I dont know why I cant attach mesh file and zip file.

In DM, create a plane that is 0.4 mm offset in Z from the XY plane and use that to Slice all bodies. Create a plane 0.4 mm offset from the other end and slice. That way, all the elements between the slices will be very uniform.

I assume you need the 5 layers to assign different properties. If you don't then the mesh can be improved further.

Then with two mesh controls: Method Hex Dominant and Sizing on the end pieces, you get a fairly nice mesh. Is this for CFD or Structural? If it is CFD, then you will want some inflation on the fluid at the walls.

If you don't need the 5 layers, unite them into a single solid, and slice off the ends to get a better mesh.

I attached the DM geometry file. You can suppress the Booleans to get the version in the post above.

Thank you very very much. This week you give me two important advice. they are very very useful to me and help me a lot. You know before your reply I dont respect I can get some value reply in this forums. I am not a new one, but I have to learn this complicated software lonely. some parts of the CFX I really dont understand clearly. on times I know there should be some shortcuts in using, but it is really hard to find them out.

My model was simulated by CFD, I need high mesh quality near the boundary. I have gotten what you told me, I can complete rest of parts by myself,

Anyway, I would like to show my respect to you, thank you, Peter, There is my best wish from Japan to you.
