SubscriberHi,
I'm trying a static analysis a spider body in universal joint. Spider has got a bearings each end.
I know the torque that the spider must withstand. I thought I should do it as it shows in the picture below.
I don't know the force that will come to the bearings. So, I did it as in the picture below.
In this case,I think there is a compressive, tensile load on the bearing surfaces and the load distribution on the bearing surfaces is not elliptical. So I want to use bearing load in this case but I only know the torque. How can I use bearing load with torque?
Thank you for your help, have nice day.

Ansys EmployeeHello Umut Can Gölbaşı,
Any one of the moments or the bearing loads would work for the problem but you need to make sure about the hand calculations for equating moment and loads.

I tried replicating the problem with a similar but simpler geometry and the results are as follows,
When applying the loads and boundary conditions I tried applying them as components rather than as vectors to get an essence of the situation.
There will definitely be some differences in results because of assumptions for boundary conditions but we've to choose between the % allowance and the boundary condition.
The following references may serve as helpful for more insights-

Hope this helps!
Thanks,
