SubscriberHi,
I am running a transient analysis on piezoelectrics. How do I add a sinusodal voltage load using the Piezo and MEMS extension?
Thank you in advance!

Ansys EmployeeHi
Firstly, the mems extension is not developed anymore (we have these capabilities native under coupled field systems in the latest releases say 2023 R1), and is hence not supported by us (Ansys employees). Perhaps someone else can help.
I would suggest to use the latest releases with the coupled field transient system in workbench (which can do piezoelectric transient analysis), and the voltage would then be just a tabular load which you can define in excel and then paste into the voltage boundary conditon (tabular) defined in that system:
All the best

SubscriberHi Erik,
A quick question for you. Do you mean Ansys 2022 R2 doesn't support existing Piezo and MEMS Module (Piezo and MEMS V1)?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Thank you

Ansys EmployeeHi
I mean we do not develop this act extension anymore since this capabilities are native inside the coupled field systems in workbench and hence we do not provide help on the act extension.
So use the native coupled field systems say in 2023 R1 (see below).
As for the app itself it is only valid and works with 2020 R1 and does not work for any later release (e.g., 2023 R1).
So again use the native coupled field systems say in 2023 R1.
All the best

SubscriberHi Erik,
Thanks a lot. We only have 2022 version, so does it allows native coupled field systems? If so could you please mention a ansyshelp example? I am working on piezoelctric vibration energy harvesters. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Iresha

Ansys EmployeeHello
Yes, 2022 R2 has coupled field systems and including a transient one (can do acoustics, piezo, structures,..).
All the best

Ansys EmployeeHi
You are more than welcome. Just to clarify something.
You mean that you are using 2023 R1 or R2 and the native coupled field systems (e.g., coupled field transient)?
Or you have managed somehow to use 2023 R1 or R2 with the act MEMS extension (which should not be possible)?
thank you
Erik
