Immersed Boundary Method in Fluent

      Hi,

I found an old article saying that Fluent had the ability for the immersed boundary method but then I found a post on ANSYS' forum from 2019 that it does not have that ability but instead uses Overset Mesh. Is this correct? Can someone point me in the right direction as to the differences between the two methods?

      Thanks!

Use Overset. There was an immersed boundary option (https://www.ansys.com/en-gb/resource-center/article/immersed-boundary-approach-to-fluid-flow-simulation-ansys-advantage-v3-i2) but that was mentioned in 2009. I don't know what the current status is, and unless it's in documentation or "public domain" information can't comment. You may also want to review moving mesh, or Fluent Meshing with a single mesh.

Hi can we use overset mesh instead of immersed boundary option to perform prescribed external deformation of a solid immersed in a fluid in Ansys Fluent.. If it is possible kindly let me know how to do this,..If not, kindly guide me how to do that in Fluent

Check the documentation to see which parts of deforming mesh are compatible with overset. Please post into a new thread with questions.
