Contact with shell elements

      Hello,

I have a problem with a contact between two parts modelled with shell elements.
The two parts are connected with a bonded contact (edge/edge).

When I start the analysis, I get an error message which reports a rigid body  motion.

I will be grateful for any help you can provide. Thank you.

      Regards

      Hi crl_mb

I looked into your model and can see that the problem deals with edge to edge contact in shell. This makes it a relatively tough problem for convergence.

Further, I made a couple of changes which helped convergence.

      1. Used 2 separate bonded contacts for the two edges

      2. Increased the pinball radius.

I am attaching the updated model for your reference. You can solve the system and see if this works for you.

      Best Regards,

      Gaurav
