This error usually appears when the program is launched without the command /UseSubscription=true.
When a program is set as the default to open a particular file type, an entry is added to the Windows registry. That entry points to the executable (spaceclaim.exe for example) but does not include additional commands.
Look for the registry key ComputerHKEY_CLASSES_ROOTstp_auto_fileshellopencommand
Modify the value to the following:
"C:Program FilesANSYS Incv193scdmspaceclaim.exe" "%1" "USERUNNINGSPACECLAIM=true"Â /UseLicenseMode=true
This should fix the problem.

Hi Brian,
Â
I didn't find the registry key (ComputerHKEY_CLASSES_ROOTstp_auto_fileshellopencommand -Â Path highlighted in bold) on the customer computer, also, on my computer, the registry key isn't present.

Ansys EmployeeLukasÂ
Did you happen to search for spaceclaim.exe" "%1" in the Windows registry as described in the FAQ article?
If you have already set STEP files to default to SpaceClaim as the program used to open them you should find the entry that needs to be modified.
If you have not, right click on any STEP file and choose Opens With... then locate the SpaceClaim.exe file in the installation directory. Once that's done, search in the registry again.
