floating license problem

      hello,
One of our customers has a problem with its floating licenses.
He has 3 floating licenses Spaceclaim Engineer 2020R2 and 1 floating license for ANSYS mechanical.
The problem is that he can't use his Spaceclaim Engineer licenses anymore. When he double click on a STEP file it is the ANSYS mechanical license that launches and if he launches a second file on another spaceclaim workstation he says he has no more valid license, as if he does not recognize the old floating license.
Do you have a solution to make spaceclaim point to the right licenses!

The User License Preferences 2020R2 tool can be used to establish your licensing preferences, especially if you have multiple Workbench licenses at your site. You can control the order in which the system attempts to check-out a license by moving the licenses up and down in the list using the Move Up or Move Down buttons. You can find detailed information on user license preferences in the online help document at below link:

I don't think the User License Preferences tool will be of help to the user because the licenses are different. One is Workbench license whereas the other is SpaceClaim Engineer license, so SpaceClaim Engineer license won't be available under User License Preferences tool.

I discussed this issue internally and there doesn't seem any direct way to overcome the issue since the registries for both SpaceClaim versions are showing the same location. Below are some suggestions for the customer to overcome this issue:

      1. Uninstall Workbench, leaving only SpaceClaim Engineer, and associate the files with SpaceClaim Engineer first, make sure it's working, then install Workbench and see if it remains functional
      2. Switch from SpaceClaim Engineer floating license to Discovery subscription license. This will give him the option to activate the license on 2 machines, as per his requirement (activation on home and office).
      3. Open SpaceClaim Engineer and then open the file using File - Open option

Please let me know if you have any questions.
