SubscriberAnsys Discovery was running fine until after I recently updated my graphics drivers. I've then been getting this error: "Explore stage may not run properly because your graphics device has less than the required 4GB of memory." My GPU has an 8GB RAM so I'm not sure why this is happening.
I've tried doing the first solution on this page: Discovery : How to Delegate 1 of multiple GPUs to the Solver
However, I'm still getting the same error

SubscriberA 4 Gb graphics card should work, but it is recommended to use 8Gb VRAM graphic card. Please go through the minimum hardware requirements. Also make sure when upgrading the graphic card driver, do not use the 5xx.x series as it has shown some issues while running discovery. Which version of Discovery are you using? Please go through this post, and see if the suggestion made there are helpful.Â

SubscriberCharudatta Bandgar I've installed driver 472.84. I'm no longer getting the error message in Explore mode, but is not solving my simulation. In my case I'm trying to run topology optimisation. I tried changing the drivers to 472.12 and 471.96 so far and it is still not working. I can't find out what driver I used beforehand when I was able to run Explore.

SubscriberFarhana Aziz Hello
If I understand correctly, the error you were getting earlier regarding graphic card driver is not coming, but now the simulation is not solving.Â
When you say it is not solving, what exactly is happening? Are you getting any error stating, simulation can not be solved? Or it just hangs and crashes? Or you are not seeing the run button, or the run button is not solving anything, when clicked?
Â
Also I would like to know which version of Discovery you are using, and is it happening with all the simulations or just specific to this topology optimization case? Can you try doing a simple run and see if even that is giving you an error? If it is happening just for the topology run you are doing, then we can rule out the possibility that it is anything to do with the graphic card driver.Â

Regards.

SubscriberCharudatta Bandgar "If I understand correctly, the error you were getting earlier regarding graphic card driver is not coming, but now the simulation is not solving. " Yes, that is correct.
When I press the run button in topology optimisation, it will say that it is solving. But there is no contour showing or shape change undergone by the object. Eventually, it will say that the solution is complete but no change has occurred.
I'm using Discovery Student 2022. I tried running natural frequency but no change is observed as well.

SubscriberCharudatta Bandgar I tried recreating my existing project and it's working fine now. It was that specific project that would not solve. Thank you for your assistance!

SubscriberFarhana Aziz Thanks for the update.Â
I would suggest, for queries related to Student version, please post them on the Ansys Learning Forum which is a dedicated platform for students.
Regards.
