Hello friends,
I am attempting to run a simulation using a whole rotor geometry and i was told to add inflation in my meshing for accuracy because my current mesh resulted in infinitely increasing torque on rotor blades with respect increasing angular velocity.
However i am unable to employ inflation on my turbine properly, can i get a guide on how i can apply inflation on complex geometry such as a rotor, with turbine blade and hub connected

SubscriberHello,
Can you post some images of your geometry and the existing mesh in the comments?
I would recommend you to assign named selection to the rotor surfaces at the CAD level. With this, you can explicitly add boundary layers on the rotor surfaces (and not on hub).
Also, I would recommend you to use Ansys Fluent Meshing Watertight Workflow.
Check out this free course on how to add boundary layers (inflation layers): Add Boundary Layers - ANSYS Innovation Courses
Thanks!
Nikhil

SubscriberDo i need to apply sizing along the edges on the blade in order for this to work? i tried to follow the video but as u can see the blade geometry is not as simple as box and cylinder please advise me on this dear ansys employee keyur and nikhil

Ansys EmployeePlease use tetrahedron method. Then use inflation with aspect ratio method.
Please go through help manual for more details

SubscriberAnsys reports that “Update Dynamic mesh failed” when I apply the inflation layer as you describe. What should I do about “negative cell volume detected” and other errors?
