Im having trouble whewn trying to solve on ansys mechanical, with basic models and more complex. the error codes im getting are- SIG$ILL and SIG$SEGV saying internal data has been corrupted. Im alos getting a message saying to check the solver output. I have treid changing the advanved solve settings but nothing appears to work for me to be able to solve.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hello @Ben Armitage,

Which version are you using? If it's not the latest one, can you try installing it and see if that helps? In case you are already using the latest version, can you try uninstalling and then reinstalling the software again?

What operating system and cpu does your compute system have?  The "ILL" on SIG$ILL is illegal operation.  So the CPU/OS does not understand some command sent to it.  And "SEGV" is segment violation meaning there was garbage in the memory location that something tried to access.  I have a few guesses on what is happening but I'll wait on your answers (including which version of WB Mechanical is being used).  Mike

Hi all,

im currently using the latest student version, if I uninstall ansys will I still keep the files from work I have saved to my computer from ansys?

I'm currently using a MacBook Air m1 with parallels to run windows.

I think (not a developer so I’m not 100% up on this issue) that most Fortran compilers don’t yet support Apple silicon (i.e. their own cpus).  If you look at the Ansys Inc platform support document (link available where you downloaded the student version) you will see that we support x86 cpus from Intel and AMD.  

I’m not sure sure Rosetta 2 will work here since I cannot test it (and I don’t personally own a Mac with a M1 to try out).
