strain energy of coupled field system

      Hi everyone,

I am doing a harmonic analysis for piezo actuator attached to the surface of cantilever plate.

I need to display (strain energy) of the system / piezo actuator , after solution is done and from the solution context tab, I clicked strain and searched for Energy in the drop-down menu. I found it but unlighted as shown in the picture, so I cannot display the strain energy

Could any one help me with this problem ?

Can you set under the Analysis settings and output controls all to Yes. I think even with that it does not show.

The reason might be as per the help manual under strain energy section, that it includes plastic strain which we can not have in a harmonic analysis (only linear material).

One can add perhaps some user defined results – see worksheet summary under the solution in the mechanical tree and there should be some energy results (e.g., ENERGYPOTENTIAL).

        hi Erik,

It’s already done, but strain energy button still unlighted. Is this option is aplicable for harmonic motion ? Ineed to parametrizethe strain energy of the Piezo patch, is it possible in this manner ?

        regards

The reason might be as per the Ansys help manual and under the strain energy section, that it (strain energy) includes plastic strain which we can not have in a harmonic analysis since it is a linear analysis (so only linear material, hence no plasticity can be included).

One can add perhaps some user defined results – see worksheet summary under the solution in the mechanical tree and there should be some energy results (e.g., ENERGYPOTENTIAL).
